Best way to clean out heatsink?

I opened up my case today and saw that My Vantec Aeroflow has a major amount of dust stuck in the Heatsink? what is the best way to get rid of it? should I just unscrew the fan from the heat sink and vacuum/compress air all the crap out?
 
pipe cleaners work too if you bend them into a loop, and swipe the loop through the sink.

(i'd vacuum it first), and use pipecleaners to get remaining debris
