Best way to clean monitor screen?

Heyas, i got a new monitor (NEC FE2111SB) and it's tricky to clean, it has a special sort of screen. Can't use windex or anything with alcohol, and just using little dabs of water doesn't seems to work well. There's some smudges on the screen that i can't get rid of. Here's what the manual says about cleaning it:

A special coating is provided on the glass (CRT) surface of this monitor to
reduce a reflection and static electricity on the glass surface.
Due to the delicate coating on the glass surface, use a lint-free, nonabrasive
cloth (cotton or equivalent) and a non-alcohol, neutral, nonabrasive cleaning
solution to minimize dust. If the screen requires more than a light cleaning,
apply water or soften neutral detergent with much water directly to a soft cloth
and use it upon wringing water, to clean the glass surface.
CAUTION: The following agents will cause damage to the CRT when cleaning
the glass surface: Benzene, thinner, acid/alkaline detergent, alcohol detergent,
detergent with abrasive powder, detergent with antistatic agent, detergent
for cleaning

So not sure what to use, i assume they'll have what i'm looking for over at Office Depot or Comp USA or something.

Yeah, I have a very similar monitor (mitsubishi 2070) and the coating makes it sort of difficult to clean smudges and fingerprints. I got some glass cleaning cloths from Staples that seem to work quite well (they are just labelled microfiber cloths). Water is generally not needed and a slight dampening of the cloth ]gets rid of the tougher smudges nicely. I have to rub the cloth quite a bit though for the stain to completely disappear.

Go to your local Apple store and get this stuff called "Apple Polish" made by iKlear. I use it to clean just about everything. It doesn't damage anything including special coatings. It's kind of expensive and pretty tough to use since you really have to buff for a while, but well worth it.

Apple store hmm, don't think there is one around here 😛 - Any idea what the product name is for the ones you found at staples? There's no local Staples stores here either, but i imagine similar or the same products can be found at competing stores. Does this look familiar? I wonder of those would work or not...says Nonabrasive but also says "Not for use on antiglare or notebook computer screens". That's all i can find when searching the office supply websites though.

Well, i already have a good cloth, i suppose if i could just find some kind of liquid or something to use it with i'd be alright, not sure what to look for though.

Just get a water-based cleaner, since they recommend a chemically neutral formula. Alcohols might do a bit of damage.

ivory dish soap (100% pure soap) and water, using a piece of cotton (hanes t-shirts work well, just run them through the wash a time or two first)
