I need something that won't scratch, wipes off finger oils, and drys clean without leaving a crust and doesn't damage the screen.

Water and a cotton rag. It takes a little longer, but you don't leave any residue on the screen.

You can buy screen wipes made to clean those screens, is it a glossy screen or a matte screen, that can make a difference, you generally safe with water and and a rag though.

E-tronic wipes by WEIMAN. available at Target, Walmart, etc. Works nice on my lappy and lcd's.

I just spray some Windex on a lint free paper towel.
Dries without streaking.

Once though, I wasn't thinking and sprayed the Windex directly on the screen, towel in hand, when some unexpected event occurred & I forgot to wipe it off immediately.
One ruined screen.

So, bottom line is: Never spray anything directly on the screen.

rubbing alcohol and a paper towel

I figure that if it's good enough for my CPU/GPU/NB, it should be good enough for the screen.
