Best way to change OS and transfer current OS programs?

HI all I want to switch to 64 Vista and have 32 Vista now I dont want to lose everything i have on my current OS what would be best way to save it ??? so i can use it in ne 64 Vist OS ?

"Upgrading" an operating system in-place is a tricky process. I've never seen it work to my satisfaction - except in Apple's case - their OS X upgrades work very well (10.4 - > 10.5 for example)

Vista 32 -> 64 might be possible
