I've recently gotten a small case of acne on my face, which i've never had before. No i'm not just entering puberty, that was back 4 years ago in 8th grade, which I passed without a breakout thank god. But anyways I want to prevent this from turning into a breakout, so what's the best way, in your opinion. to prevent/stay acne free? Or get rid of pre-existing acne, besides expensive doctor-recommended treatments and such.

Acne is for the most part do to hormones. The best you can do for minor breakouts is to keep your face clean, but know that this is not a cure. Though it may ease the symptoms and keep pimples from becoming infected.

There is a lot of snake oil out there. Most is useless, some is even counter productive. Don't fall for it.

Mild benzoyl peroxide preparations work rather well. The stronger ones are harsh and can cause redness and peeling, so I would stay with the low-strength stuff.

The most important thing is keeping your face nice and clean. If there's not much oil and grime, you won't get many zits, unless you have a bad genetic predisposition toward acne, in which case you need a dermatologist's advice.
