Best way to be sure a new CPU cooler will fit?

Not necessarily a compatibility question, but rather a space question.

I have a AMD 7750 BE that I have been running with the stock cooler. It's currently running OK at 3.0, but I have a few instances under heavy load that it has shut down on me. Figure that it may be a case of overheating. I want to upgrade the cooler, but I don't want to sacrifice any of my RAM sticks (currently using all 4 slots (2GBx4). How can I be certain a new one will fit without trial and error?

What is the model number for the RAM you are using? If they have regular heat-spreaders without all the junk sticking out of the top you can pretty much use any cooler as long as you install the ram before putting on the cooler.
