My T41p won't boot most of the times and when it does it freezes or reboots by itself after awhile.

So now I need to backup some important files from the notebook on my T41p.

Can I just insert the HDD into my gf's laptop and back it up to the network from there or will there be problems? What is the best solution for my scenario?

Thanks.

not sure that it would be that easy. might be some driver conflicts using that method. probably would have to remove the hd and use an external adapter and boot it up as a slave then copy the files over to the other hd

Yep, exactly what skunkbuster said. Just take the HD out get an IDE and power adapter and throw it in your desktop as a slave. You should be able to pull whatever you need off of it unless the drive is fried. It 99.99% won't work if you just put it in another laptop unless it's identical in make and model.
