HI,

How the best way to back up my e-mail and Address book in Outlook Express?
What files do I need to back up? I have done this before but its been along time and in windows 98. Im running windows 2000 now. Is there a way to export them some how to a backup directory?

Thanks!

Why has MS not included a backup for that specific thing? That's what I've always wondered. I know how to do it manually, but it's a pain.

Thats a GOOD Question compuwiz1! :)

I just went ahead and used Express Assit its easy and simple to use. The link Tonec posted. I have seen it before but never used it till now.

Well here is the path on my computer:

C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{70240C00-AA16-11D4-A89B-9A390AB9512C}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

All the files in the last folder I copy to floppy, then if I reinstall, I paste them back into the same folder, and voila, all my old stuff is still there. The folder that has all the .dbx files...anyway, copy all those.

Grin my email and address book will not fit on a floppy. I usually just copy them to my slave drive and burn them to a cd. I backup my drive once a month. When needed to; I go back and just import them back to Outlook.

Buckmaster, aka smartass, ok...you have an impressive sized address book. Hehe ;)

I guess, last time I did it, I copied it to a folder in a second hard drive. It's now 112mb. :Q

just do a search for *.dbx on your hard drive(s). you will see inbox.dbx, outbox.dbx, etc...
save those, import using "file>import > messages > outlook express 5"
