When I bought my KT7A 2-3 years ago, it was among the top boards on the market.
I fell out of keeping up on computer tech.
From what the Abit page says, it only supports Athlon processors up to 1.4 ghz(?).
I tried OCing in Softmenu III up to the max of 1300 with 100 fsb (computer hangs on restart if I try 133). I don't really know much about OCing, but so far the processor seems to run at a cool temp of 110.
Is there any way I can OC this more, or am I stuck with saving up for a current motherboard and 2+ghz processor?
In my manual it says "Supports AMD Athlon 700mhz-1.2ghz or future socket A processors based on 200 mhz/266 mhz (100 mhz/133 mhz double data rate)
It has been so long that even the little I knew makes this "all greek to me".
I was able to bump my 3DMark03 score to 3467 with that OC of the processor and my ATI 9600XT at 540 core, 330 memory.
