When you enter the house from the garage you walk into a laundry room area with two overhead dome lights, each with 2 bulbs in them. Since women are physically incapable of turning off a light switch I'm trying to figure out some way to automatically turning off the lights after a couple minutes of no activity.

I've seen all kinds of options...not really sure what ones really work well. Obviously fixing a defective wife would be the proper solution but also an expensive one. :D

Another idea is to just cough up the cash for an LED light if its the power consumption thats the problem. It will be cheaper than getting the motion sensor plus the work of wiring it up

or even easier, as lozina said, just spend the $25 for an LED bulb and let them leave it on all the time

I have CFL for the garage entry way - but they still have a habit of leaving it on as they go into the house or come out into the garage to leave.

Out of sight, out of mind syndrome.

You try to convince a wife that she is defective:\

Bathrooms can be dangerous when one is praying to long at night :p
The one referenced apparently is noise activated - good.

However at $65, is it cost effective?

i just grabbed the first image if found. 65 bucks is a bit much for the problem.

QFMFT. Every time I come home, every f'ing light in the house is on. I'd make her pay the electricity bill so she knows how much it costs, but the only thing that would do is make the electricity bill payment late every month.

Best way to get the wife to turn a light off is to let her know you want it left on. Works like a charm.

Ah. These look like what I want...

No go on the LED bulb. There's 4 of them...that's $100. Too rich for my blood. I've got CFL's in there right now but these sensors aren't compatible. I'll have to switch back over to incadesants, which is fine. The lights only *really* need to be on about 2 full minutes a day. Not 10 hours.

Don't get me started. I come home and there's lights on in 5 different rooms. And a TV on. And the front door never got locked up after letting the dog back in. She's a smart woman...has "Dr" at the end of her name for craps sake...but I guess less priorty things like turning off a light switch gets lost in the higher level brain thoughts.

At least she can cure your hemorrhoids from getting all butt hurt over her not turning off the lights. :hmm::sneaky:

If she can bitch at me for putting the spoons too close together in the dishwasher then I can complain about this.
