Im trying to email a cd to my brother, and I currently am attempting to send the eleven songs in a zip folder.

It is somewhat time consuming.

Is that the easiest way, or are there any smaller compressions?

any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tyler

Send it over AIM or something with a better transfer system.

How many songs?

I would just do mp3 format and send 1 song per email through google or something. Might take a few minutes per email, but if you do it while watching a TV show or something, you should probably finish by the time it's over.

It is eleven songs. Aim isnt a bad idea. But he is not online as of now, and i was going to send it now. I may just send a song per email like suggested.

What is ServU?

Convert them to mp3, put them in a zip folder, and send that folder via aim.

ServU is an FTP server program I believe. You set it up on your comp, and your brother connects to it and can download the files on his own time - provided your computer is left on.

Use LAME. Encode to 128kbps, with the quality set to max, -q 0. It won't be wonderful quality, but decent for the filesize.

You can try compressing further using WinRAR, which tends to give better compression than ZIP. Turn off the recovery record to save a little bit of space, and check the filesizes afterward. Sometimes compressing a compressed file will result in a slightly larger file.

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys. I may end up setting up a VPN to get him some files.

For now i just sent a bunch of emails with one or two songs each.

Not exactly the most efficient way but it worked.
