I'm making a lot of calls to Canada on my cell phone and am looking for the most cost effective way to do this. I've got some ideas, but would like input.

1. Skype to go on my cell phone

2. Traditional calling card

3. Buy a U.S. prepaid cell phone and have the other party try it in Canada

4. Suggestions?

Well, if you want VOIP on your cellphone (Skype, Gizmoproject, Truphone, etc), then you'll need to get a phone with wifi.

Calling card is probably easiest and cheapest overall. International incoming calls are usually billed at normal domestic rates.

ok, because Skype to go was described as this:

1. You get a local number1 ? it?s your personal Skype To Go number.
2. You assign the Skype To Go number to an international phone number.
3. Save the Skype To Go number to your cell phone.
4. Make a local call to your Skype To Go number (from any phone) and you?ll connect to the international number.

If you live in New England, RNKtel has calling cards that are 1/3 cent / minute to Canada. By far the cheapest calling there is.

I don't use Skype, so I'm not familiar with it.

Skype To Go will do exactly what you want. It costs a mere $3 a month (part of Skype Pro subscription) and is very much worth it.
