I've been getting a lot of blisters lately from extended hours of after school sports and i'm just wondering what's the best way for blisters to heal, or if there's any medicine to put on it. Should you pop it and squeeze the water out or let it be or squeeze it out and put a bandaid on it or what.

I assume you mean blisters on the foot...
Try not to pop the blister and if it is a big one (I had one the size of a half dollar) don't do anything that requires extensive pressure on the foot. In case the blister does pop (mine did after I went to track with it :(), cut away as much of the loose skin as possible and apply anti-bacterial ointment such as Neosporin on it. Cover with gauze or a big bandaid and don't touch.

While saying do not puncture blisters may be good advice, I never seemed to have a blister that didn't end up breaking. I always just popped them, sometimes cut away the skin depending on how big it was, and then put on some neosporin and a bandaid or two. Always worked for me and if it was an area that was repeatedly affected, eventually it would just form a callus. Of course I'm no sports doctor so I'm sure someone else has better advice.

I had better than half a dozen blisters on my feet after completing a 26-mile march through the desert a few weeks ago. I have always sterilized a needle w/ alcohol and pierced the blister and allowed them to dry out by wearing sandals whenever possible. That has always seemed to heal them up faster than not popping them. I always put some Neosporin on them before bed time the same day I puncture them and let them heal up over night with a band-aid over them. That's always been my treatment and it works just fine everytime with less downtime due to persistent pain.

There is a product called NewSkin or Nuskin or something which I recommend. You can put it on before or after you get the blister and it will help a lot. I used when I used to get a blister on my thumb from bowling a lot. You can get it at a drugstore or supermarket for a couple bucks.

This is what my wife uses on her feet after she gets done with her 20Km road marches...the stuff works pretty good!

I always pop them then remove the skin then rub salt on them... It works great.

I always take a fingernail clipper and make a tiny hole in the blister and drain the fluid - it stings like a mother, but then put some neosporin on it and cover it with a band aid and/or tape... The pain goes away a LOT faster and you're fully healed in a 2-3 days instead of a week - they're all going to pop eventually, get it over with.

for a larger one, gently lance it with a *sterile* instrument, drain it, and be sure to apply some form of topical antibiotic before covering it.

Not that I'd especially recommend this plan, but my general rule of thumb is I take either a big knife or some sissors to the blister. Usually I can cut it open, let it drain, and then move on.

A couple nights, however, I was trying this method on a small but deep blood blister on the very heel of my foot. I was using the sissors from a Letherman knife and having a hard time getting it open. Finally I cut it open and blood spurtted out all over my hand like I had been shot in the head or something. The wound did not bleed any further, but it was pretty crazy none the less.

One last thing: blisters suck

Get Moleskin!
best stuff ever!
What you do is you take the moleskin right, and you cut out a hole the size of the blister, then you stick that bad boy right there ontop of the blister. Theny ou can walk around and be fine. You may want to tape down the mole skin if it is big, or doesnt fit right...
