In terms of price and usability, which tablet should I get?

You know how some of the tablets come with mouses? I already have one, so I don't need that, right?

I want to get a Wacom because I heard Mac programs crash on other brand tablets. But.....if I can handle those problems, what other brand is recommended?

What size and type of Wacom is the best for Illustrator and Photoshop use?

I need to get this quickly...know of any fast shipping places? (like New Egg I guess)

I just wanted to get more opinions before I officially purchase something.

Thanks

You can't run any mac program on a tablet, because they don't run OS X and have the wrong type of architecture. Tablets are PC's. I've never heard of a tablet mac.

hopejr, you've got the wrong kind of tablet. He's talking about the ones with pens so you can draw and have it interpretted on the screen. It's like using a pen as your pointing device instead of a mouse.

giradpillow, depends on how much work you'll be doing. If you just do it on the side or for hobby, i recommend the Wacom Graphire3.

Second the Wacom Graphire. If you are really into graphic art and design, you might want a larger digitizing pad (not TABLET!) :)

The Big Wacom is super and pressure sensitive as well for thick and thin lines. And it can also be used with drafting instruments (not pointed) such as triangles, cruves, and templates.

I am on my 3rd generation Wacom over about 6 years.

Yeah I reckon the Wacom line of pads really take some beating, I've used them for years now. Good backup with drivers as well.

Wacom is the brand of choice. Intuos3 is the product line. You buy the largest one you can afford and make adjustments to your workspace to accomodate it. You will bet getting another cordless tablet mouse. No way around it.

The larger the work area, the faster you will work.

You should also use a 21-22 inch CRT with high quality ouput.

The Intuos3 6x8 is the best.

No real reason to go larger than that, unless you like moving your arm more to cover the same amount of distance on the screen.

At the risk of being redundant Wacom rules the tablet world. Thats why nobody has deals on them. Dell sells them in their accessories section. If a nice coupon comes along that will be about the best deal you can get. NM - you said fast, not cheap. 6x8 is perfect for Illustrator, the small 4" size feels like a toy, and the bigger one takes up too much desk space.
