Best VM software for running Win 98

Looking to run some old games like Mechwarrior 2&3 and was wondering if anybody has some good suggestions on which VM ware works best, currently running Win 7 but would like VM ware to run Win 98.

I did some googling and found this but don't know how good it really is.

I can confirm VirtualBox will run Windows 98. I installed it for fun a while back and still have the VM haha.

Haha, good one, thanks for the feedback I'll give that one a try since its also free, Microsoft also has a free VM but I'll try that one first.

If you want to go with your own install search for scitech displaydoctor it's the only way to get enough of a VGA emulation going to run any game.

I tried VirtualBox 6.x recently, but the VM kept freezing. 5.2 seems OK though.

If you only run one VM at a time, VMware player is free too.

This looks to good to pass up, my new hard drive should be in today so I plan on installing this weekend and giving it a try, thanks.
