Best Virus/Pop-up Scanner

hello, I really need to find a good scanner that would help me to get rid of pop-up when I tried to browse internet. after sharing files with my dear friends on the net, this annoying pop-up window would keep appearing. I tried to get rid of by scanning with Lavasoft adware and other it wouldn;t go away. I tried google pop-up blocker it still wouldn't go away. I looked up 'properties' of this thing, and it says "hypertext file'. Could you please recommend "good" scanner or popup blocker that i can download from the net? thanks in advance for your help. any help would be appreciated. thanks
 
You are infected with adware/trojans my friend. We can help you get rid of it. Please post your hijackthis. You do this by opening the program, hitting scan, then save log, then copy and paste what appears in notepad into this thread as a reply. We can then offer you a solution on how to solve this problem. I doubt that a simple popup blocker will solve your problems, as they are most likely coming form adware.

since you guys are so kind and I pretty much know nothing about computer, I will ask you one more question. what is a good "realtime antivirus application"? my norton antivirus just expired and I need one really bad. something I could get for free would be nice.... hehe.. thanks again.
 
Hello ,

Before you do anything
1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Disable system restore, malware can come back through it.
3. Reboot into safe mode.
4. Close all browsers/windows explorer.

fix the following in hijackthis(kill the process in process viewer, if its there)

Additional Steps

1. Remove the following VIA instructions provided:
2. Clear your Temporary Files
3.Restart into normal windows

Notes

  • The 016 lines are active X entries and can easily be reinstalled.

see my Review of 11 Popular Antivirus Products, free and non free. I would reccomend the freeware Antivir, free to home users and no registration required, just install, update and go.
 
thanks a lot guys for all your help. got lid of the pop-up........... and Schadenfroh, the antivirus application you recommended is really working well... once again thanks a lot.
