Best Video Editing Software (Windows)

I'm looking for a good video editing package for the MS Windows platform.

I've been using Premeire Pro so far and have enjoyed it. I'm downloading the Vegas 6.0 demo as we speak. Does anyone else have suggestions as far as a video editing program.

I've recently aquired a miniDV camera and I'm going to start producing video (consumer - home) as soon as I find a good package. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Windows Movie Maker FTW!!!!!!!!!

Kidding.

I use multiple programs for my video editing. I use Canopus Procoder to transcode files from whatever format into a 20Mbps MPEG2 file. I then use Womble MPEG Video Wizard to edit the MPEG2 file. What is great about Womble, there is no reencoding involved when cutting to splicing together clips. And once finally complete, I use QT7 to do a final encode to h.264.

windows movie maker isnt bad for basic, basic, basic editing. its a good started app, but my personal fav is adobe premier

I do video editing myself, and I use Adobe Premiere Pro. Not exactly the easiest to use, but it's got everything.

Yeah..Premiere here. It can be a bit..complicated to begin with, but just spend some time with it, and you will eventually be able to do excellent work with it.

I liked Premiere Pro for the time I used it. I'm looking to learn more about professional video editing over the next couple of months. We're using outdated software and I'd like to switch into something more along the lines of Premiere Pro. I've checking out Vegas as we speak.

I need something more on a professional level though. Windows media player won't cut it 🙂

I use Womble mpeg-vcr all the time to cut commercials out of stuff I cap from TV. When I bought it I got both programs and they are pretty good with updates.

vegas 6 (even 6.0c release) is crap try 5 is much more stable.
If not I use premiere pro mainly.
Also if you did not know adobe is realeasing a premiere pro 2.0 along
with a few of their other video products including after effects <3

There is also a lot of other softwares available but the only ones that are any good
would obviously be avid express HD/DV and pinacle studio.

Depends on what you need, but for me:

Avid Xpress, Pinnacle Liquid (owned by avid now and is now Avid Liquid), Premiere Pro and then Sony Vegas
