Best video editing software for Windows...?

well... really someting that can do these things to .MOV files:

slow down on certain scenes or clips

cover up sound in clips and replace it w/ an MP3 or WAV

have text fade into the background

can anyone help me???
 
not sure about .mov functionality (and im sure if it doesnt have it, you can find a conversion program on the net) but if you have windows XP, you can download movie maker 2 free from windows update. its got a lot of functionality for a free program. another popular one is the divx editor, but it costs money. id try mm2 1st, if you have xp.
 
adobe premiere without a doubt. did you say you had experience with video editing? because if you don't...it might take u a while to get used to premiere. movie maker 2 might be enough if you don't plan on doing much with it.
 
i'm just making a trailer for a future HL2 mod... no big... it's just the .MOV support i need cause i can't find a good .MOV conversion tool thats free and doesn't leave a watermark

EDIT: I found a program that converts .MOVs the way i like... thanks for the help!

and yes, i have slight editing experience... 2 movies using Windows movie make 1
