Best video card [with DVI] under $100?

I see video cards like the 9200 and 9200SE that have DVI... but what about NVIDIA cards? I'm looking to spend around $50, but if I can't I can max out at $100.

How do these cards rank? I found some on Newegg.com for as little as $40 all the way to $70. What's the best card for the money?

Radeon 7000
Radeon 9200SE
Radeon 9200LE
Radeon 9200
Radeon 9250
Radeon 9550SE
Radeon 9600
GeForce 4000
GeForce 5200
GeForce 5500

Of those cards, the Radeon 9600 is much faster than anything else. The other decent competitor for gaming (no DX9 support though) is a Geforce 4 Ti.

However, for $100, the 9600 Pro is the clearcut (I think the Pro can be found for $100).

What about Radeon 9550SE or FX 5200?

I found a both with DVI, DIRECT X 9.0, 128MB for about $50? What's better?

Or $10 more I can get a 9200SE or MX4000

so confusing

Does Direct X and OPEN GL have an effect on general computer or is that only for gaming?

I just want to be able to use this video card by the time Longhorn comes around...

I'm just not sure if the extra $$ is worth it to upgrade from Direct X 8.1 to 9.0 and Open GL 1.4 to 2.0?

Help please! 🙂

First off, whats a 9250? Ive seriously never heard of this card.
Second, a 9600 (non se) will own all of those cards even going at 1/2 speed. It's under $100 and sells w/ dvi output. It will be the best bang for your buck out of all of them. ($90-$100)
If you want to go down a notch, get a GF4TI 4200. ($80)
All of the cards u listed are crap compared to those 2.

Nvm on my first question. I just googled it and its right around/barely better then an mx4000. Aka: a GF2TI would beat it and i wouldnt put it in my sister's computer it sucks so bad

is it just me or is it a new trend that people new to the forums always have a "what is the card for me thread" and lists cards i have never heard of?😕

If you want a quality DVI signal, use a Radeon. You got them sorted bottom to top, performance-wise. Choose whatever fits your budget. 9550 and 9600 series cards are DX9 hardware, so they're your best pick. The "SE" versions have half the RAM bandwidth of the "plain" ones, gaming performance on the former is not good.
