Best video card to pair with G4560 KBL CPU?

I've seen the various DigitalFoundry videos, well, most of them, regarding this new budget gaming CPU, but they didn't really make too many specific recommendations. Other than NVidia cards had less CPU overhead in DX11 games, and that used GTX970 prices were dropping like a rock.

Anyways, I have two nearly-identical rigs to build out. They both have ASRock Z170 Pro4S ATX boards.

I bought two 16GB DDR4-2400 kits for them. Also, have two 2.5" SATA6G 240GB SSDs for them.

Mobos already qualify for a Win10 license.

I have a selection of video cards:
4-5 GT630 passive 1GB DDR3
3 GTX950 2GB GDDR5 cards
2 XFX R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 cards
2 HIS HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 cards

What cards would be the best match-up for these CPUs?

Definitely the R9 270X and GTX 950 would be a good match. (According to this review the generic versions of those cards are roughly equal to each other.....expect at 4K where the generic R9 270X pulls ahead of the generic GTX 950 by a few more %)

The HD7950 will also work, but I think there will be stuttering in certain games. I'm basing this statement off of AtenRA's results with Core i3 6300/DDR3 1866 and HD7950 @ 1000 Mhz in his 60 minutes of gaming review--> https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/60-minutes-–-cpu-performance-and-energy-consumption-in-gaming-atenra.2459963/

EDIT: If your HD7950 is only 800 Mhz then maybe it will be fine in the majority of games.

GTX 950 for lower energy draw. The 270x is as fast, but consumes more. So if its the same performance, you look at other things like pricing, power draw, form factor, etc... Since you don't seem to have any sort of pricing issues, then the 950 wins purely by having better power draw.

I was going to say RX470, but the next best GPU I see on your list would be the 950.

This video just popped up in my feed the other day. It makes a somewhat compelling case...

Thanks for that HardwareUnboxed video, it certainly does make a compelling case to pair it up with an RX 470 card. The 1050ti results, in most titles, seemed GPU-limited, even at 1080P.

And I think that the GTX950 is slower than a 1050ti, whereas the R9 270X is comparable, although the 1050ti has 4GB VRAM, and the GTX950 and R9 270X cards I have are each 2GB VRAM.

Here's another good one that was linked from that vid:

I just have this dream of you owning a 470 Larry. I have one, its amazing, its everything most people could want at 1080p.

That is a very good video though notice the commentary on the stuttering here for G4560 in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

P.S. I also do wonder what would have happened with BF1 if 64 user Multiplayer was used rather than the single player campaign. (reason: Multiplayer with 64 users is more demanding on CPU than Single player).

470 would be logical, but it's not perfect;

the same old thing of AMD suffering more with slow CPUs for DX11 still stands, so probably 1060 if you can get that.

edit: kind of missed the point, from your cards for pure gaming 7950, as overall balanced for the not so high power, better video decoding and so on, GTX 950.

Of the choices you have:

-GTX 950 if power consumption is an issue for you
-7950 if you want the most performance (and it will be a little faster, especially when clocked higher than 800MHz)

-Best solution would of course be to sell them and go for an RX 470 if this system is important to you

A few things:
1) These rigs, are to sell. Partially used case, PSU, and mobo. New CPU, RAM, SSD. Barely used GPUs (except for the 7950s). I'd like to use up / sell off the parts that I have, without having to buy new GPUs to go with, if at all feasible.
2) Being a Z170, I can use OCed RAM. And one of the reviews at Newegg for the Team Vulcan RAM kit I bought, mentions running at 2800 and 3000, with a voltage boost from 1.2V to 1.35V, and a slight de-rating of timings.
So, I might do that, but because of #1, I'm slightly reticent to sell anything OCed heavily, especially if I'm warrantying the system for a few months.
