I've been given basically 5K to Build/Buy two workstations for server management.
Because of location constraints I'm pretty much forced into doing the KVM extender via cat 5 thing. Controller locations will both have 24" Flatscreens but the cost of remoting KVM (DVI+USB) over cat 5 is cost prohibitive. OTOH, VGA is cheap enough to do VGA+USB via Cat 5, but none of the cutting edge video cards support that technology. I suppose I could go with thost little adaptor widgets to go from DVI to VGA, but I'd like to avoid that and ultimately preserve 1900x1200 resolution. The ATI 1900XT can be found with DVI+VGA outputs but I'm wondering if there is still something better.
Suggesitons???
