I have had a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP for about 1 1/2 years now, and I need something that can work WELLL with WInows XP without needing the 3rd party driver crap. OPen GL is BAD with this card and XP. Doesnt work at all. Picture in games IS HORRIBLE. Just a bunch of polygons. So I am looking to get something new. Raedon 8500? I am looking to get the best possible card right now that wont throw me any problems down the road. THanks.

nvidia and ATI cards work well in winXP. nvidia does have the infinite loop bug though.

It really depends what you need, the Ti500 is going to be gone from the shelves when the GF4 comes out, if you want to spend a lot you can get a GF4, or a 8500 if you want to spend less... Anything from the original radeons will be faster then the V5.

WHats the infinite loop bug, and will just swapping out my Vodoo 5 5500 with the Radeon 8500 cause any problems? Does it require a certain amount of hardware to run it. For now, it will be on my FIC SD11 MOBO, with an Athlon 700 mhz, and 384 mb of ram. Thanks. I think Ill get the radeon 8500. IS it really good?

Just bought an ATI 8500 Friday. Works great with XP, no issues at all. It just screams playing RTCW, over 100 FPS 1024X768 all the goodies on.

AMD XP1500
DFI kt133a board
512 megs
ATI Radeon 8500
MUSE XL sound
