Best video card for unreal engine 4 development?

Hello guys, I just started using unreal engine 4 and I got some questions about what video card to use. Right now I have a AMD radeon HD 7700.

So I would like to know witch brand is beter for developing in unreal engine 4 NVIDIA or ATI/AMD ?

I also would like to know what are the important things to look for in a video card when buying one for developing in unreal engine 4.

I'm thinking of buying a GeForce GTX 770 is this a good card for unreal engine 4 development?

If you are going to go with Nvidia I would go with at least a 970, or a 960 if money is an issue. That way you'll be able to take advantage of the more advanced features as well as full DX12. AMD's next set of cards soon to be released should also support full DX12.

I'd say you should not buy the biggest fastest videocard you can find and afford. Get a slower one. Because then, when you develop new stuff, and it runs on your slow videocard, you know it will also run just as well or better on most other videocards. While if you get a Titan X, stuff that runs well on your machine might not run properly on slower videocards (which is: everyone who doesn't have a Titan X).

I agree that you probably should get a videocard from the newest generation. Because those support more features. And you want to be able to include or test as many features as you want.

I'm not sure about videomemory. You want a slow videocard, for the reason above. But you might want a videocard with 4GB VRAM and not with 2GB or just 1GB. Because that might hinder your development.

So I'd say: a new videocard, with 4GB VRAM, but you can get a cheap (slow) one. The GTX960 has only 2GB VRAM. So maybe get a GTX970 ? Although the GTX960 is probably good enough too.

On another note a somewhat serious developer in training might want to test his offerings on multiple cards. Making sure his offerings play nicely on both AMD and NVIDIA hardware. Opens up more market potential.

The main branch don't have any special requirement. Basically any $200+ card should do it.

You would want cards from both AMD and Nvidia that way you open up your market to a large community.
