Best video card for under $100

so..

my friend is currently building a new computer, and we are on a budget, so...

I am curious as to what is the best video card he can buy in the sub $100 price range.
The computer so far is going to be an Athlon XP 2600 (333 fsb) on a Chaintech N-force 2 motherboard (that supports up to 400 fsb 🙂 )

so...

any ideas for video cards?

If you wanna save some money a GF3 Ti500. I bought one once they became cheap and righ tnow it runs everything I play beautifully, (SIm CIty 4, Unreal 2). But if you want to spend exactly $100 stick to toher peoples repsonses. a 4200 would be good to, except whenever buy a line of something I like have the best one, so I would spend the extra for a 4600, yet that is jsut me.

Abit Siluro Geforce 4 TI4200 64MB 8XAGP, $84 at excaliberpc.com, overclock the crap out of it, and you'll prolly reach TI4400 speeds easily.

All these people that keep saying TI4200 have a point, except they're all forgetting that 99% of the time that TI4200 will be a bit OVER $100. It'll be safely under $150 at least....

And I second the $75 Radeon 9100 128MB. Great card on the cheap!
If you want to spend $125, the TI4200 is super, and a little bit faster than the 9100.

Don't go with the Radeon 9000 or 9200, the technology is slower even though it runs cooler. If the 8500LE/9100 is cheaper or equal, go for it and don't look back - it's easily the most video card for the money.
