I am looking to purchase a new gaming video card but I don't really want to spend more than $150 on a video card. What is the best video card for the money? Are there any video cards coming out, should I wait?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

I think TI4200 128 MB is probabbly the best videocard under $150. IT OCs well, It plays 90% of current games almost as well as a 9700 Pro, if you play at 1280 Res on a 19" monitor I cant tell if FSAA is on or not. And even though it won't do well with next gen games which need DX9, I dont think any card currently on the market, except maybe the 9800 Pro, will do well enough with those games. Additionally spending less on video card lets you put more money into your CPU, which will yield an even better PC for the money on a budget in most cases. This is all my opinion, but since I have looked at 100s of benchmarks and tried out 7 or so cards from currently available products i think its a somewhat informed opinion.

TI4200 is a solid buy, plus you'd have some $$$ leftover in your pocket since you can probably pick up a 128mb version for $95-$125, depending new/used/etc... Another option is trying to pick up a Radeon 9500pro if you want to spend the full $150. Curiously, what is your computer specs that you want to put this into?

I will be building a new computer for this card. I will be putting together a ABIT NF7-S along with a 2500+ Barton AMD with 512 Mgs of PC3200 DDR.

I am considering getting a TI4200. Here is the link of the card that I am looking at.

Here is another vote for the Ti4200, and the ASUS card you linked to is perfect.

I'm actually looking at a video card upgrade soon also, and I am torn between that ASUS card and the MSI Ti4200-VTD8X (it has Video-In, which the ASUS doesn't).

Certain models of the radeon 9000 pro offer 17 megapixels per second per dollar, although a little luck can bring 19 Mp/s/$ with a modded 9500; but I believe that the best video card for the money is the Voodoo 3, which, at only fourteen dollars, has an astounding 24 Mp/s/$.

Mine's at 335/655 for $140 with all stock cooling... not even heat sinks on the RAM. Nice eh? I recommend the Asus V8420S to anybody looking for a video card that doesn't cost over $200

Definitely the 9500 Pro IF you are interested in special feature performance(AA and AF) along with slightly better IQ than the TI4200. But if you are saving money then TI4200, get it on one of the $80ish deals going on lately.

I'm now seeing GF4-TI4200's selling for the same <$100 price of Radeon 9100's. I read Tom Hardware's recent 9600 review and boy did the newer version of the 4200 stand up well! I'm kicking myself for not getting a recent TI4200 VIVO deal ($100 beans even.)

Next up is the Radeon 9500 Pro, an astounding card for the price.

What card do you have now? We want to make sure you see a big difference. :)

the 9700 non pro is a superb deal for a little over 200 if you can afford it. If money is an issue I would elect to get a ti 4200.
