I've been looking at the Radeon 8500 All-In-Wonder card and want something that has a TV tuner, TV out, and is capable of playing latest games alright, and the remote is certainly a nice extra, does anyone know if Radeon 8500 AIW is my only option?

For the functionalities you described, you probably need to go with a AIW card of some kind.

i'd get the 9700 over the 8500

why
well i like my 9700 pro
a friend has the 8500 le overclocked and it does show considerable slow downs although playable even with "the goodies" turned on
but the games coming out will definately "use" the increased bandwith.also for the mpeg2 capture.the higher clock speed.and thefuture proof of the card.at least you won't be wondering if you could have paid more for better results ie...graphics.

it is your money and the 8500 is a nice card but the aiw 8500 is clocked much lower than a normal 8500 or even an le version

250/250 retail clock some are higher this is just for info
230/230 le clock
230/190 aiw 8500 clock

with the 9700 the clock is supposed to be 325/310
