System Specs:

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
Intel Pentium 4 3.35 Hyperthreaded
Asus P4P800-E Deluxe Motherboard
Thermaltake 480w Silent Purepower + Active PFC power supply / 17dBA
512GB Kingston PC3200 Ram(upgrading to 2gigs)
80GB(72) Western Digital HD
ATi Radeon 9800 SE OCed to Pro (needs to be replace badly)
17" Samsung Syncmaster 730b / Black

Basically I need a new video card. The rest of my system is really as up to date with as much money as I have had to do so. What I want is a video card that isn't above $200 .. The reason being that I don't have more then that. I'm not really as computer literate as I thought. I wasn't able to find any good deal video cards that are going to perform really well. I am willing to try and get PCI-E if there is no good, cheaper than retail AGP video card. I'd appreciate it if you helped! Thanks.

I'm in the same boat as you, even have the same monitor! Good choice by the way. It looks like most people agree that the Nvidia 6800 is the best AGP for under 200 bucks at the moment. Here's a link for it: http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=XFX-6800&c=pw

But if you can swing $250, you can get an x800pro or maybe xt if you look hard enough or there's a good rebate and that would be better. That's what I'm currently looking at now.

Hey. Thanks for responding too! This monitor is really what I was looking for too, my brother got a LCD and I was like "Hell I can beat that!" I spent a bundle on this thing.

I have never really shopped a eWiz, mainly Newegg and Amazon. You ever do business with them? I'm trying to look on Newegg at the moment. I'll let you know if I find any good ones, cheaper than $200-$250.

I just used www.pricewatch.com. It's like pricegrabber.com for pc and tech stuff. Does a good job at giving you the best prices and gives reviews of all the stores. I never bought from ewiz, but their reviews were high and I know some that have bought from them. I'd go for it if you can't find anything better.

The issue is that I probably won't be buying it real soon. I need to save up.

I am going for 2 gigs in the coming week though.
