I've been looking at an Asus EAX1950 Pro PCI-E video card with 256mb of RAM. It's $229 CAN at a local store (about $200 US). Is there any card that would be better at this price range?

That card is very nice, but if you can afford to spend a little more I'd suggest an X1950XT instead because its quite a bit faster & can be had for $249 US ... bear in mind however its also a bit louder & has a cooling solution that takes up two slots, unlike most Pro's.

I have to admit that the Radeon X1900XT 256MB is a most awesome card and is faster than 1 of my 512MB GeForce 7950GT's but the importance of a 512MB frame buffer will come to light next year. Buy a Radeon with 512MB of GDDR3/4 on it. You'll be glad you did very soon!:)
