Here's the deal:I'm keeping it short and sweet. Upgrading my video card (my TI) 'cause it sucks now :(

Want a new card. I only play games @ 1024x768, medium-high details.

Which card could do this /\ /\ for 2 years?

I was thinkin evga 6800 LE flashed to ultra if they ever get back in stock.

</short and sweet>

Just wait til the 6600 series comes to the AGP interface, and get a 6600GT. That would be a great $200 or less solution

And if you can't wait for the 6600, pick up a 9800 pro, but if you can get that 6800LE, definitely go for it. Also, you might want to consider getting 1 GB of ram if it will be for gaming.

Yeah, as you can see, I have 1gb of ram planned for this Christmas. You see, my budget really can't exceed $350. Which is EXTREMELY HIGH. I know. But as far as those 6600 GT's go, that's really not an option. Only 128 mb of memory won't last 2 years.

No card slower than a 6800GT is *really* going to make good use of 256MB of video RAM (at least IMHO). Even the 6800NUs with 256MB don't see much benefit from it, and they're faster than the 6600GT.

Sure, 128MB is plenty for two years. Think about it; that's 64MB a year. At 52 weeks in a year, that's over a meg per week. I'm sure you'd make on that budget.

Well, I'm talking about the memory in games. More demanding games are heading our way: Doom 4 won't play on 128mb of memory.

don't be expecting Doom 4 for a quite a while. Besides, they're working on the Doom 3 expansion pack.

And neither will HL3 :p

If you can find a kickass deal on a 6800GT for 350 definately get it, an LE will be hard to get your hands on anymore.

6800 is all you need for this type of gaming for the next 2 years. It can be found for $250 at Outpost.com

6800GT isnt going to benefit you at 1024x768.
