I have a friend with a TYAN S1590S / K62-400 system that I built for him a couple of years ago.
He now wants to upgrade the Video Card to get better game support for his kids.

What is the best Video Card to put into this system without going beyond the capabilities of the CPU?

For example:

GF2-MX400 (which Det's?)
GF2-GTS V (which Det's?)
Radeon DDR
Radeon LE

GTS is overkill, MX400 should suite pretty well. Depends how good his mobo's AGP implemention is.

Priit,

I agree with you that the GTS V is probalbly overkill, but I just checked NewEgg and the Visiontech GF2-GTS-V is down to $49 + $7 shipping = $56 shipped.

While it may be overkill compaired to the MX, would it hurt anything to use it in an MVP3 system?

Herkulese:
You are as wise as you are strong. You're right, there is no reason whatsoever to buy a feeble MX when you can get a real GeForce2 for $50..
Unfortunately, you friend's system probably won't run many modern games no matter what vga he has.
That K6-2 had no floating point unit to speak of,it's too feeble for modern games.
He need a new motherboard/cpu as well.

My 3rd rig is an old Asus P55T2P4 that I run a K62-400 in with 64 mgs ram and a V3 2000 pci (No agp, remember this was originally bought as a cutting edge board with a p133!) It runs Quake2, Half Life and Counterstrike very well. Not sure the frames, but it's very playable. I would either recommend the GF2-V or find a cheap V3 3500 AGP.
Good Luck,
