best video card for around $250?

I'm looking for a card around $250, something that stays cool and doesn't heat up quickly if possible. Kinda just looking for the best overall card for that price range...any suggestions and why do you recommend that card? My preferred resolution is 1680x1050 on my 19" LCD monitor btw.

I don't know about heat but the natural choice would be the 8800GTS 320MB, or the 640MB version if you want to pay a little over $300.

8800GTS/7950GT or the ati equivalent...

personally i would say 8800GTS.
