In my opinion 2x ram on X1900XT is in no way worth $100 extra dollars. The card will be far too slow in most games that really need 512mb of ram. You can always then put the $100 aside and buy G80 (when G81 refresh comes out) at $250 in fall of 2007.

I'd have to disagree with the bolded part. The x1900xt clearly makes good use of 512mb since it outperforms the 256mb version across the board, and it maintains playable fps, not like a low end card with 512mb mem. However, the 256mb version is definitely a better deal for the price, because it performs almost as well at a much cheaper cost. The point is that a faster core matters more than bigger memory size.
