I prefer ATI cards, but I'm willing to bet that nVidia will out perform in that range.

It also depends what socket you're looking at. give us a socket, and a heated debate about the best will be sure to follow 😛

does the 6800gs have a huge difference in performance from the 7800gt?

that $200 price tag is very appealing

if you play HL 2 Source engine and BF2 then i recommend x1800xl :! i do have a 7800GTX and x1800xl and i have seen some issue with BF2 when playing at high res with AA 8x and AF 8x. thats a big price range $200-$300, when you give that big of a price range people are always going to recommend cards closer to your max price. If you really dont want to spend over $250 you should say so, but if you really want to spend around $300 then specify that as well such as setting your price point $250-$300.
