I was wondering what the best video card is that has a 1600x1200 output for DVI. My computer is not at all geared towards gaming, most all of my work is in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, or After Effects. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd prefer to spend less than $200 if possible. Thanks!

Why do you not try the aging but nevertheless good G400 from Matrox? It offers unbeat 2D quality.

DVI can definitely go higher than 1280x1024. considering 1920x1080 (1080i) is one of the 18 High Definition standards (and one of the two most popular the other being 1280x720, 720p) there is no way that DVI would be chosen as the standard if it were not capable of handling it.

and to answer your original question i would say the 9700pro would be the best card for that as it is the best card available and it can do 1600x1200. if you don't need all the power of the 9700 then the best card would be the cheapest card capable of running at 1600x1200.

maybe a gforce 4 4600. you should be able to get that card for under $200 now i think. if not, you can go with the 4400 or 4200. they will both do 1600x1200.

I would have to say, one of the radeon cards. the 8500 can do 1600X1200 and depending on the game it does pretty good frame rates. but if your going to be just working on the desktop, it is perfect for the job. Also, the Radeon 9000 series is good, they are mostly under $150 and offer the best performance for there price, plus they all do 1600X1200. Hope this helps.
