Best Video Card for 1366x768 Resolution?

I was thinking about getting the GTX 660 Ti or GTX 570 but apparently those are built for 1080p monitors and I don't want to get a new monitor. So what video card is the best for 1366x768 resolutions? Is the Radeon HD 6870 with this resolution any good or would the Radeon HD 6850 be better?

look at it this way its cheaper to buy the 7950 and get the monitor later than buy a lower end graphics card right now and then buy a monitor later and upgrade the graphics card next year

But what I'm saying is I don't care about a new monitor. I'm going to be sticking with this monitor and graphics card for awhile.

If you're going to be keeping the card for a while get the as fast as you can afford. Games get more demanding. 4870 was a good card for 1080p. Today it's only good of 1600x1050 and lower. If your CPU is up to feeding it.

If you insist on a card that will perform well only at that resolution then snag a 6870/6850/560 card.

I have a 6870 core i5 and a 1360x768 lcd tv. at that res the 6870 easily handles games that i play, but for the same price you can get a 7850 1gb which is a bit faster and a better overclocker.

I think a 460 is quite sufficient for today's games at that resolution. Anything faster is excess for today, but will ensure the card lasts you a good long time.

EDIT: Regarding your first post, the 660Ti or 670 would work fine with your screen but would be massive overkill. I know you said you don't want to replace your screen, but in my mind it's something akin to saying "I'd like to put some $3000 27" rims on my rusty 1988 Crown Vic". 1366x768 would drive me nuts.

EDIT2: Google'd "1988 Crown Victoria" and found images of Crown Vics with 27" rims. lol :p

Don't know why you made a second thread. If you're persistent on getting an out of date card for 768p then just get a GTX 460 and call it a day. Everyone on your previous thread was simply trying to maximize on your upgrade by offering you some sound advice.

I feel like if you are gaming at that resolution, you have some budget constraints, otherwise you'd probably want a better (larger) monitor as well.

6850 gives 10% more performance than 7770 for only around ~$15 more ($140 vs ~$125, based on newegg), I'd recommend that unless you have a weak PSU and can't handle anything over a 7700.

My vote is 7770 over 6850. But I wouldn't go higher than that. At that resolution everything else is overkill. A 660Ti would be a waste of money cuz you'd never see why you paid that much.

Yes, the HD7770 is more power efficient then the HD6850. But why not settle with a HD7750, I doubt if you'd be able to tell the difference at that resolution... :sneaky:

You could look at this:

Very efficient and low-power...

Does the OP even have a budget? If he could dish out $350, I'd recommend a $150 monitor and a $200 HD7850 2GB. I don't understand why he doesn't want a bigger monitor... 1366x768 is small even on a laptop :(

My English is not very good, but doesn't "I don't want to get a new monitor" mean he will not buy a new monitor so we should recommend a GPU for his situation?

I've spotted some 7770's for 105$ w/o a MIR also comes with FC3. 95$ w/MIR. Also a 650TI for 139.99 and comes with AC3.
