No, DX8, but the only DX9 card in that price range is FX5200, a very bad performer in games.

You won't find anything dx9 compliant that's worth a damn for $100 or less. Best option is a ti4200.

Also, if you want to be playing the new games such as HL2 and want them to play well, you're really going to need to step up and buy a better card.

Yeah, try to put this together... A 5200 is a DX9 part, but its has major troubles running DX8 games, now how do you think the 5200 being a DX9 part helps out? Unless MS is going to go downhill with DX, then I'd suggest staying AWAY from a 5200, Ti 4200 is the way to go.

Go to http://www.pricewatch.com and type GeForce4 TI 4200 128MB in the search box.

you can try new.com in the referbd. section. They may may have a GeForce4 TI 4200 for < $100 bucks

I just purchased a GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT GeForce 4, 8X AGP. Ti 4200, 3.6ns, 128MB DDR for $99 at newegg in the Refurb section. Hopefully this will work out to be a nice card

BTW, do you'all think this will be a major boost over my old Radeon LE 32DDR? system specs are below.

Hmmm..$99 for a refurb..I've seen brand new gainwards for that price. Hopefully you got a golden sample for that much.

That PNY @ newegg isn't a very good deal; only 64mb

That $99 Gainward is a Golden Sample:

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=N82E16814128140

Edit: Most of the good deals in the current batch of Newegg refurbs are long gone, down to 21 available models from the 135 or so posted a couple of days ago. I'm sure another batch is on the way! I got the refurb XFX 4200 128 8x DVI/VIVO for $85. Wish I had gotten in on the refurb Albatron 4680 for $99 though. Rats.

Edit 2: Of the remaining Newegg refurb cards, there are what look to be a few good GF4 cards in the $100 range: a Chaintech 4200 128 8x DVI/VIVO ($101), a Chaintech 4800SE 128 8X DVI ($105), and a PNY 4400 128 8X DVI ($105). I'm not sure which of those is the best card, but you can probably find reviews of all on the web.

Yeah, that Gainward card is nice. Sold out now. I almost got it but decided to be a cheapster and save $14 by getting the XFX card. Ordered it Wednesday afternoon and the tracking page tells me it's out for delivery here in Virginia today. Wow.

Alright, similar question as original... I've got about $200 (maybe a bit more) to spend on a video card for a system I'm building (ASUS 7n8x-dx, Athlon 2500+, 512ram, etc). I've been reading reviews and looking at benchmarks for the past few days but seeing as how I haven't looked at video cards in over 3 years, I'm still lost. I'm mainly looking for good performance on Enemy Territory like the original poster, but decent to good performance on HL2 would be a bonus.

I was all set to buy an MSI VI/VO 5600 but decided to do some more investigating as I've heard the Ti4600 could be a better card.

Thanks in advance for any input you guys have.

Get a 9700 non pro and stay away from that damn fx5600. The only good fx5600 is the ultra rev 2, which costs way too much.
