The 9600 series *should* be cheaper than the 9500 Pro, but because it's been out longer, the 9500Pro might be about the same. You can't go wrong either way, but I know I need the 9600 because of its lower heat and lower power consumption. In a regular tower that's not a big deal and you'll be happy either way. :D

Are you sure it wasn't the Sapphire 9500 non-pro,which sells at newegg for 137$?
The sapphire 9700 Pro shows for 299$, the non-pro does not even show OOS

I don' think I ever said 137, sorry if I did. I'm talking about the Sapphire OEM 9700 non-pro. I got it for 232. Then I saw it a few days later for 235 and now unfortunately it's 245! I bet it will go right back down though. It's definitely there though, look under:

product category

video cards

manufacturer Sapphire

chipset 9700

I think it's in stock too.

all right, 232$ seems more like it.

If you look at your original post, it says 132$

EDIT: unfortunately, though... It would be nice to get a Radeon 9700 for 132 $ :( :D

The second part of Moore's Law should state that hardware prices are one half of release prices in one year.

Wayne's Law states that whenever you buy a new video card it will be $100 cheaper next week.

Of course, the only way to cheat this law would be to buy a video card cheaper than $100...

No, wait, you could use the law to your benefit... See, if you buy the card today, then wait one week and return/rebuy it or ask for a pricematch or something like that... :D:D:D
