Best video camera to use in car while driving?

I am leaning towards GOPRO but I want to make sure it can record long trips and such in high res detail.

Here's the deal with the GoPro and many of the knock-offs:

Records for 15 minutes for each video file generated, multiple consecutive files depending on your microSD card capacity and speed.

(I have a 64GB card, I think I get 1.5 hours at least, maybe 2?)

You set the camera to rollover, and it will continue to record but overwrite the previously recorded video files.

So you could get a 128GB microSD card and maybe get 3-4 hours max, then it would begin to rollover.

So get 2 128GB cards and swap after 4 hours to get 8 hours?

Either way you will have to edit 15 minute files together to get a longer video.

The technology is rapidly changing in this area, next year you may be able to record for 8 hours on one card...

I have a Garmin dashcam. It records about 8 hours on a 32gb SD card

I record all my trips and send all the video link to police when ninja bikes are driving in between vehicles and popping wheelies which is illegal in my state.

Stop picking on the motorcycle crowd. Most of the bad drivers are in the vehicles with 4 wheels, not 2.

If a dashcam is what you are looking for, the G1W is a excellent deal. They sell sell for from $48 to $68 on ebay and amazon. They need a 32 GB (not included) micro SD card speed 4. With that you get 8 hours of 1080P video in 10 minute units that repeat with no additional input. I'm pleased with mine. I will be ordering more for rear view and the other car.
