Best version of UNIX to get?

arcenite

Lifer
I want to get a version of it for my computer and wondering what to get. We use solaris at school and am wondering if that's the version I should get, how do I get it?

Thanks 🙂

P.S. Nik, Blow Me 😛

Edit: I need to/should learn it for my programming class. They use Solaris for everything there.
Edit2: Thanks guys, I'll just go with Solaris then (I didn't realize it was free)

if you're looking for something easy, try knoppix. i like the new dvd version because of all the programs that are available on it.

What do you want to do with it ?... plus you cannot just 'get' UNIX.... you want a UNIX-like operating system.

Um guys he said UNIX, why are you suggesting Linux..?

And OP answer my question, what do you want to do with it?

edit: solaris it is I guess 😛

Do you work for SCO? 🙂
There can be only one Unix:thumbsdown:

No, from the way I read it he wanted a more BSD style environment.. completely different from the Linux kernel, etc.

This is why I asked what he wanted it for in my original post.
