IIRC, that many people will destroy a ventrillo server. I'd go with another chat service. We had trouble with 30 on a t1. And nothing wrong with shadowbane. It was a heck of a lot of fun back when I played. Lots of killing!
It's so much different now.. Back then, nobody understood the point of a pvp game and everyone got pissed at each other when they killed each other. Now, there's reasons for pvp every day - not just banes. Mines produce resources and gold for the guild and on Wrath, they end up in usually 2-5 guilds all fighting each other at the same time. Also, rune drops are practically scheduled.. so everyone knows when an important rune will spawn. So, you get a king-of-the-hill battle of usually 5v5 or 10v10 at every rune spawn. Plan on dying a lot and saying 'GG' to the guy that killed you and stole your gold.
Cities are invincible now until banes go live so that you won't log in one day and find half your walls and buildings gone by late-night vandalism. Banes are still the funnest thing in Shadowbane - and they seem to happen a lot more often now.
Characters are much more balanced. You don't get elf healer channies repeatedly bolting for 2/3 of a player's health any more. It's hard to say any single class is 'gimp' right now as they all have their uses.
And, the pvp is better. People mostly no longer try to make their 'single character' uber. Uber is group support and a group that can kill all other groups. So, people spec their characters specifically to work with the classes in a 10-person group. You don't need to have the same number as the enemy if you have a stronger group and organization than them.. We routinely take on 10vs30 and usually win.
If you're ever interested in coming back to SB, send me a pm. We can hook you up with gear, gold, and runes and powerlevel you to pvp-viable in 2 days.
I seriously believe it's the only REAL pvp game out right now. You drop your inventory when killed. Your items take damage. You can kill anyone anywhere... even guildees when you're bored. Trash talk is fairly minimal and friendly.
SB is not noob-friendly. If you're thinking about playing, talk to someone who's played first. It sucks realizing your character template is completely gimp upon reaching high-levels.
