---- EDIT ---
Heh just saw a guy with another post in almost the exact situation, if the Ti200 is gonna be bottlenecking on a 1400(Same as me) I should probably upgrade that first. Leaving the rest there incase someone still wants to comment though ;) more input is always wonderful.
--- EDIT ---

Allright, let me start off by saying i'v had some bad past with ATi in general. Included but not limited to a card basicaly blowing up after only 4 months in my comp and ATi saying TS. I'm not completely close-minded to the ATi cards, i hear they've improved their filtering methods quite a bit and their drivers are better than they were. I'm basicaly just looking for a good card, upgrading from my GeF3 Ti200. I'm wanting something thats not gonna be ungodly expensive, as i'd kinda like to upgade a few other things(processor etc.), but thats gonna be able to run things to my satisfaction. My card is alright, but in things like EQ with a lot of people the framerate drops(many various textures on screen at one time eats up 64 megs of ram fast). I'd also like to be able to turn on the new models in the game, and be able to run SWG and EQ2(when it comes out) at a decent framerate. I realise ofcourse my processor speed is going to play into it quite a bit, but the more ram is going to help aswell. My board does not currently support AGP 8x but it will. Excuse the novel of horrible spelling and punctuation. Input apreciated!

Thanks.

What's your budget? Again, a 9700NP for $205 is the best price/perf ATM.

i like my 9500 pro and 9600pro
haven't overclocked my 9600 pro, its got 2a ram, so it should overclock well
they;er both about 170-180, but if you're willing to spend about 220, the 9700 non pro i think would be a much better choice

I'v got about $400 to spend on all upgrades, but don't want to sink all that into just a videocard. Would a new videocard really even make much of a difference on a 1.4Ghz AMD over my overclocked GF3 Ti200? My understanding is i'd be better off spending that money on MB+Processor+RAM.

Motherboard: epox 8rda+ $85 @ newegg
CPU: 1700+ 59.99 @ svc
512 Buffalo pc3200 89 @ newegg
that leaves $160 for a video card. you can pick up a 9500pro for that in the FS/FT forum. you will have great performance with a 9500pro combined with a 1700+@2.2ghz

1. asus a7n8x deluxe $130
2. 2X Cosair pc3200 512mb $166 for both
3. 2500 Barton $93
4. your current Geforce3

Total $389 with free fedex

The 2500 barton should be able to hit 3000 levels easily. the reason i say to stick with your geforce3 is that it can run everygame on the market, expecially when paired with the specs i just listed. wait for doom3 and get something that will run it for cheap. and about 8x agp, dont worry about it. performance is the same as 4x

where do u get corsair for that cheap? thanx

also, there is no reason to pay an extra $45 for the asus board when he wants to upgrade video as well
