Looking for a portable developer workstation/server with SQL server, Essbase and a bunch of other tools. It can be heavy, but I'd rather not have the bulk of a SFF. I need at least a Gig o'RAM, and a slower processor with 2 Gigs might be better. Don't care about battery life, but being able throttle down and pack it up for the 30 minute drive home without interupting things would be a plus. I won't be getting 64bit versions of software so I don't know whether a 64bit matters as much as overall speed in 32bit mode.

Something like an emachines 68XX, but without the widescreen display and a 60Gig 7200rpm drive would be perfect. Hey eMachines - go make me one of those!

I don't mind the wide screen so much, but don't need it and would prefer to not pay for it. It sounds like the eMachines are such a good value that even if they have an option or two you weren't looking for it.

A laptop with a base harddrive with 7200RPMs is fairly rare. More than likely you'll have to do that part separate.
