Best value 6800GT

I am sorta torn on a video card to get on my new rig. I was going to get a 6600GT for about 220 dollars. Now i am wondering about the 6800GT. I need something with PCI-e and SLI, for the future. If anyone know a good 6800GT card that is available that would be great. Thanks

Only PCIe 6800GTs I've seen are from eVGA and BFG. Both are decent brands, but both are also WAAAY over MSRP right now, between 500 and 600 USD.

If you need advise on the 6600GT I would get the Leadtek.

Chumbo has the 6800GT PCIe for 400 but are oos until mid January.

what about the 6800??? I see an MSI one with 256MB of RAM for like 330. Is it worth the extra 130 dollars to get the 6800GPU or stick with 6600GT

IMO I would get the 6600gt for SLI purposes. The 6800s are nice and all, but if SLI is in your future, two 6600gt will likely have you CPU limited anyway, so you will not see any improvement by going with two 6800s.

I woluldan't advise buying a 6600GT planning on uisng 2 in SLI as it only performs similair to a single 6800GT. I wouyld much rather buy a single 6800Gt and ahve the option to upgrade later.

actually, a single 6800gt outperforms SLI 6600's. forget sli if you are planning on using 6600's its not worth the extra crap. 2x the graphics cards is 2x the chance something will go wrong.

i'd just go for 1 6800GT. Wait a while and order the BFG one from Chumbo. Forget SLI (bang for the buck my @$$) and just get a next gen card later on (NV50 or R500).
