Best Usenet News Reader Program?

I pay. Many ISP's give out access with accounts. However, with Comcast, you only get to download 1gig a month.

if you want to download files, newsbin pro is the best.....for reading newsgroup posts - I have no idea -

Your ISP may offer newsgroup access, check with them...if not, something like Usenet is good, but you have to pay for it

So how does usenet different from a regular news server that comes with most ISP, or is there any difference

most ISP don't hold the binaries very long
some ISP limit your mileage (bandwith)
some ISP don't have all the groups

Are you sure that Comcast does this with everybody?

I am positive that I've downloaded over a gig in a week before.

Comcast gives 1GB per month and they count the headers IIRC.

I think Giganews Binary Newsreader is great. Not very well known but so easy to use.

For anyone considering service, DO NOT go with 100proofnews.com.

They have a good deal and their service is kind of alright, but they will sell your e-mail address without hesitation.

I got terrible speeds from 100proof. Now I use Giganews (the service and the app). They're fast, great retention and decent prices.

What is available besides Outlook Express and Forte Agent?

The Best by far is newsreactor. I pay for my usnet and with this program I can set my D/load cap @ 200 Kb/sec so I also D/load from Mirc and other programs 😉

I subscribe to a nonfiltered News server. News servers from ISP's suck ars

i use easynews....10/month for 6GB.....really fast....maxes my 1.5mbps connection when d/l'ing. They also have a great search feature on their site that allows you to d/l directly from them.

Usenetserver CAN be great but they have a lot of downtime and I started having speed issues with them. Finally cancelled.

Newspro is a really good program to use. Too bad finding files on newsgroups suck or either that it's the same files over and over again.
