Specs are in the sig, and I'm getting a new graphics card for my birthday. I need to know if the HD 3870 is enough to justify the money, and using up my birthday karma. I have an LG 19" @ 1440x900 with a X1950Pro. Whats in the nVid camp, and the AMD camps for under $200?

I'm guessing it's between a nVid 9600GT and HD 3870. Take your shots, I can handle it.
 
For under 200 you can get an 8800GT, maybe even a GTS after rebate. Not that it will make much of a difference for any game 'cept Crysis.
 
8800 GT for sure. $175 at tigerdirect. Newegg had them even cheaper last week, now they've jacked the price up to $230 :-( I game at 1680x1050 and with my GT I can play most games at max settings and still get 50+ fps only game I have to run stuff on med is crysis. The stock cooler is alright, but if you invest in the artic cooling S1 cooler which is like $25 you can run passive with no fan and its still has better cooling than the stock cooler. My GT with no fan idle at 44 and loads at 54 not bad with no fan, dead quiet
