Using the HDTV wonder with WinXP. Very nice!

Same here. ATI HDTV Wonder on Windows XP.

The only other one I have ever owned to be worth anything is the Creative Labs DVR card. Sad they made the best card hands down but discontinued it about 3 years ago.

I have owned approx 15video capture cards and devices.

is this the HDTV wonder card you are talking about? would i need an ati AIW card to go with it, or that just ati wanting you to buy more ati products. also, can i record tv and hdtv or is this only a tuner?

Yes that is it. You might also want to check ATI's website and go a pricegrabber on it to be sure you have the best price. I paid 120.00 for mine.

No you dont need an AIW. Any good video card will do.

I have used Radeon 9500 and Onboard Nforce 2 video and it works great with both. So its safe to say it works with NVIDIA.

What I will say it doesnt work with is anything from XGI but XGI is junk in itself.

awesome, thank you for the info!

I don't have a lot of experience with other cards, but my e-Home Wonder has done me well and Anand seemed to like the ATI cards in his roundup. What do you have against ATI tuners, MDE?

You could also look at an external device, like the Viewsonic Nextvision 6 or the Viewsonic Nextvision HD12.(HD12 is an HDTV tuner in addition to NTSC)

I use the Hauppauge PVR 350. The 150 will do fine if you don't care about the FM tuner part. There are only a handful of tuner cards that encode MPEG2 with hardware. I think all HDTV tuners encode with hardware since the bandwidth is so high, but I might be wrong. Take a look at the ATI Theater Pro 550 also. You will thank yourself later if you get a card has hardware encoding.
