Hi Guys.
My file server, mp3, dvd, divx entertainment box is only connected to a widescreen TV.
Currently i use an old ATI rage Pro LT video card, as the Geforce 2MX400 i used before
had such a bad TV-out quality.
Of course i cant live with this old rage pro, so what is best?
I was thinking of going with some Radeon 7500.
(i assume there are cards with better TV-out than rage pro?)
Are there any differance in TV-out quality on Radeon cards?
Are there any other with better picture?
Maybe u guys know if there is a low-profile card?

The system is a boring celeron 1.2Ghz with 256Mb and 2*60Gb HD running Win-XP pro.
Most of the time i used it as DVD, DIVX player, but it also has to serve as the fourth
computer during LAN-partys.

:D Rad7500 certainly does have great TVout and also gives perf much faster than a GF2MX at around GF2TI speeds. Image quality is also excellent as is the DVD playback which it does in hw.

;) However the ideal card for you should be the Rad9000 or Rad9000pro. These are full DX8 cards which is great news for gaming, but that's not here best point as they're slower than Rad8500LE cards. Rad9000/pro use DX8 hw to enhance the playback of MPEG movies, this should be EXCELLENT for any lower quality movies you have. Rad9000/pro cards also have if anything better TVout and image quality than previous Radeon cards. IMHO you can't go wrong with a Rad9000/pro card and they are under $100. Rad7500 will certainly meet your needs but it is best to get a true ATI card. Rad7500 start from $60ish.

The ATI 8500 and 9xxx series cards also support the new component video adapter from ATI while the 7xxx cards do not. Might be something to consider for your widescreen TV.

I'm using a Radeon 8500LE (Guillemot 3d Prophet FDX 8500LE 64mb) card and the TV-out is great once you pop in the latest drivers. ^_^
