Best TV/LCD for the dorm room?

I am currently trying to decide what would be the best choice for a TV /LCD display in my dorm room. I currently have a Viewsonic vp171b LCD for my computer, but I want another display so I can watch/listen to the TV and do my work at the same time. I was thinking of maybe just getting another vp171b and using Leadtek winfast deluxe tv2000xp to watch my TV with the second monitor. But I have noticed that my lcd doesn't look that great when its viewed at angles other than straight on, so when I have people over not everyone would be able to see it clearly. After realizing that, I am leaning towards getting a TV instead. I will be using the display mainly for watching TV, streaming movies from my PC, and watching DVDs. Another reason I was leaning towards a TV would be that I would be able to get a larger picture for less money.
What do you guys do/think? Should I go with another LCD or get a TV? If a TV, what would you recommend? Also, I know a nice 61" DLP would be work but I don't have that kind of money :) So solutions less than $600 are quite preferable :)

Thanks!

if you are going to primaily watch tv with it, why would you even contimplate using a computer lcd in the first place? Its much more work and much more money. Just get a TV and make life easier.

edit: its for a dorm? shouldn't a student budget be much lower than $600? Even lower than $400?

Personally, I'd go with a TV. Cost-wise, I'd call that your best bet. Space-wise, you could get an LCD TV, but that just doesn't seem as practical. You'll get a better, larger picture, for probably much less.

Yeah $600 is a bit steep, but I don't want to skimp and regret it..That's why I set a higher budget :) But of course a lower priced option would be much more appreciated :)
Yeah I guess a TV would be a better choice. Any recommendations? I would want S-video input for connecting to PC and also the inputs for an xbox.
How about the Sony KV-20FV300 20"? Looks good for about $300 and it supports the 16:9 for DVDs.

I'd go with the LCD with an S-Video out like the Dell LCDs they have on special now.

An LCD is less space and can double just as well as a TV with the S-Video.

A no brainer to me!

Still needs a tuner unless you have a tv card and want to mess with that. S-Video I suppose will enable easier viewing of dvd's and other things. But the pc will have a dvd rom.........

I'd go with a real tv or another lcd with better specs and use the tv card.

Yeah I wouldn't need an S video out if I got an LCD. The Dell 1901fp would be nice, but its $580 or the Samsung 191T for $600 now, plus another $50 for TV Tuner..A good benefit of the LCDs is that they don't take up much room.
The Sony KV-20FV300 20" would be half the price for 1" more viewing..

It's not a flat-panel, but its less than $200.

Sam's club has an Apex 20" flat-screen television with built in dvd player for around $180. Get that and save your $$ for partying.
