Best tried methods to advertise to local small businesses?

I've been going door to door and handing out a small half sheet flyers and business cards to local small businesses to get my customer base up but I'm wondering what others on here have tried that have worked the best for them?


I know that advertising in the Real Yellow pages would probably help but that's a lot of money and a long commitment that I don't feel I'm ready for yet.

Any other ideas on how to get the phone ringing?

keep bumping your own threads when they are still on the first page, that'll get a lot of attention to them.
