Best Torrent Sites?

Not sure on the tos here but I want to know what are the best torrent sites for downloading freeware/shareware?()🙂

I have used piratebay, btjunkie, torrentspy (when it was up)

torrent-finder.com is what I'll usually use to find my torrents. It searches 50 or so torrent sites for whatever you're looking for.

The best torrent sites, i.e., Pirate Bay and Minininova are either shutting down or going legit.

The best of the rest are isohunt and btjunkie. For torrent searches, torrents.to and torrentscan.com. For new scene releases, rlslog.net. For TV shows, eztv.it.

I'm not going to get into the morality or legality of file downloading. That's a subject for OT.

Also be aware that most of these sites are infected with popup viruses like Antivirus2009. Use a non-administrator account when browsing these sites and a good av program. Microsoft's Security Essentials is very good at catching and deleting these.
If you do encounter one of these popups DO NOT click on it. Use Task Manager to close the application.

ragbg or something like that .com. It doesn't have a huge selection but it seems pop up and spyware free atleast on the website. Inside the .torrents is another issue entirely though.

My 2c worth, I don't find Torrent sites themselves to be that useful, many of them rely on a Google API for their searches. So if I actually know the name of the software I'm interested in, then I find that Google gives a pretty much comprehensive result for any torrent I may search for.

Again, I agree with not going into the legality of torrents, much legally free software is available by torrent download, maybe the most widely available software on torrent delivery being many Linux variations. Apart from which, it's another debate altogether.

i use torrentz.com. it's a search engine of other sites with links to them. also includes a list of trackers in utorrent format you can add which is really convenient.

comments help avoid viruses...

I'd hate to see thepiratebay go away. For some reason it feels like good torrent sites are dwindling. But I guess it always feels like that but as soon as one gets shut down another pops up.

Torrenting will never stop because as much as the sites can get nailed for listing the software, the people that put it up will continue to do so.

Regardless, I used to use demonoid. Demonoid was imo the best quality site where I could find a lot of obscure downloads, and user comments and feedback proved invaluable, although basically nothing listed on demonoid contained viruses. As someone above mentioned, demonoid is offline right now although they claim not to be completely dead. isohunt.com seems to be good and sometimes has user comments. I really don't download anything from there unless I see at least a couple good comments.

Other than that I don't really know. I used to use torrentspy a long long time ago, but they blocked their site to US visitors.

I like TBP myself. It's very simple to use, no need to register. It was a sad day when it was to shut down but it seems to somehow made a total come back. They win yet again!

I still prefer using plain old p2p though, but sadly it seems most of the networks have hardly anything on them. Think there's less and less people using those networks that's why. The fast track network was one of the best until kazaa went all commercial/spyware crap.

I can find most everything I need at tokyotoshokan and nyaatorrents, though I understand that only pertains only those of us that share that hobby. For everything else, I guess this is a good read for my own sake 🙂
